Sarah Stogner is D.A. of Texas’ 143rd Judicial District. She previously spent years in commercial litigation, which included providing legal counsel for energy-related entities. After moving to West Texas, she became a passionate advocate for plugging orphaned oil wells -- and, soon, a fighter against governmental corruption and incompetence. She was asked to run for district attorney in 2024 and won, taking office in 2025. As a New York Times profile put it, “An Unlikely Prosecutor Is Now the Law in Texas Oil Country.”
